OUR HOME - RESTYLING AFTER A MOVE

BEFORE AND AFTER

Bringing furniture from your old home is always a challenge and we needed to use most pieces in our new home as it was very good quality (Torrance and MacKenna). We wanted to change from a traditional to a more modern look and a pure wool woven area rug in Charcoal from Armadillo was the jumping off point for a new colour scheme. I then chose a concrete grey frame with white card to reframe our large print - didn’t it make a difference! I really wanted a gorgeous light from Scandinavian designer Menu but with an extension on the cards this was never going to make the budget. Instead I bought a fun piece from Bunnings and searched for bulbs to give a unique look. It reminds me of a friendly spider and gives great light from just one fixing.

DINING ROOM

My favourite cupboard came with me and it morphed from a toy cabinet to bar as we reconfigured the furniture to fit the new spaces. We were pretty excited when the Ikea Billys fitted neatly either side as though that wall was meant for them. A Besta glass fronted cabinet holds china and servingware handy to the dining table. We love to entertain and have an ‘elegant caual’ theme, with modern ceramics, natural linen napkins and cane touches. Our table isn’t able to extend fully in it’s current space - that is a goal for our extension.
