For fabulous contemporary Australian design, Arent & Pyke are turning every home they touch to gold. The stunning images or their work that are so popular on Instagram and Pinterest are the end result of a very successful partnership that make this interior design studio special. Here's the low down on the rise and rise of two lovely professionals in the design world.
Based in Surry Hills, Sydney, the studio has worked with many homes with history. From 1800's terraces to Bungalows with period detailing, Arent and Pyke seek to respect the original craftsmanship of these homes but interpret this in a totally modern way that fits today's busy lifestyles. From improving the architecture of the house to complementing the design with pieces from their many sources, the team strive to truly engage their clients in every step of the project.
Sarah Jane and Juliette, along with their team of twelve, aim not to just improve a home but the lives of those that live in them. They really want people to 'have a beautiful life' enriched by good design, colour and texture.
What makes up Arent and Pyke's Style? How can you get some of their aesthetic into your own Project? Quality built in storage in the form of window seats, open shelves and cupboards fitted with sculptural handles. An artful use of colour, often in blocks of cabinets, floor rugs and art chosen specially by the designers. Lighting, especially in the bathroom that is beautiful as well as functional, often adding a graphic finishing touch to a room.
The directors and their team are constantly exploring new fields, whether travelling to study other countries' design or collaborating on a line of textiles. Their website, arentpyke.com, has a fantastic blog. If you keep up to date with Arent and Pyke, you'll be in touch with the very latest in Australian Design!
